There’s something about the way they look at each other.  Something magical.  They have this glow on their faces, this sparkle in their eyes that simply cannot be any more filled with joy.  It’s not just that they’re ridiculously gorgeous and in love.  It’s something more.  You see the deep connection that naturally exists between them – the delight they feel in the presence of one another and their joy is insanely contagious.  Trust me, I know.  My facial muscles are still recovering from smiling so much.

After 8 years together, Nadine & Christian, an incredibly sweet Dutch couple living in the warm climate of Nicaragua could think of no better place to get married than New York City and asked me to photograph their special day. It was an incredible honor to document and the simplicity of the day and what it clearly meant to them made it all the more touching. Nadine and Christian are incredibly warm, happy people and spending the afternoon with them felt like being with good friends.  They smile, laugh and love, and I felt incredibly privileged to be able to be around such a joyful presence.

When I asked them what kind of music they liked – if there was a song that had some significance to them – they told me they liked happy music and I smiled because it seemed so fitting.  They love the Spanish song ‘Limón y sal’ by Julieta Venegas which says yo te quiero con limón y sal / yo te quiero tal y cómo estás / no hace falta, cambiarte nada, meaning I love you with lime and salt / I love you just the way you are / no need to change a thing.  It seemed perfectly fitting for them and makes me smile when I hear it.  I hope it makes you smile when you watch their slideshow, too.
