When Lauren and Mitch came to New York City for their engagement session last weekend, I don’t think they anticipated being flown back to Washington D.C by way of arctic breezes and hurricane like winds in the middle of May. But, frigid winter temperatures in spring and tornado like winds were not going to keep this pair from having a good time together and we had such a blast walking around the Meatpacking District together and watching everything that wasn’t nailed down fly across Manhattan.
For their shoot, Lauren had brought some red heart shaped balloons, floating hearts, peonies, muffins, and playing cards and I was thrilled because it’s always so much fun when couples get into their sessions and bring props! In the first few moments of the shoot, however, almost everything blew away. Lauren and Mitch responded the only way they knew how – with laughter, and I couldn’t help but laugh and smile along with this pair who constantly find a reason to smile. When I got home that night and combed the 10,000 knots from my wind blown hair, I realized my face hurt from smiling so much. Lauren and Mitch simply have that affect on you and I feel so lucky to have such lovely people as clients.
Lauren and Mitch will be getting married next month and I couldn’t be more honored or thrilled to document this special day in the lives of this joyful pair. Counting down to your big day, my friends! :)

When I asked Lauren if there was anything she and Mitch loved or that was significant to them for their shoot, she said we had to incorporate muffins somehow as it’s been the nickname they’ve used for one another for years! LOVE it!

Maggie,
You are a genius! Talk about smiling–I have a perma-grin from looking at these beautiful photos!!! You are a true professional. Mitch and I were convinced that 52 degree weather and gale force winds would leave us with one or two good shots–boy, were we wrong! You made some pretty bad shooting conditions look like a perfect, sunny day–still not sure how you did it, but you pulled it off with ease! I am even more excited about our big day, because I KNOW our photos are going to be amazing. I cannot wait for you to be there and help us capture it all!
Thank you,
Lauren (and Mitch)
Cute! I love the card playing set. They’re an adorable couple!
Aw, yay! Thanks so much Lauren & Mitch! I can’t wait for your big day! And, yes, thanks Emily, aren’t they the cutest?! :)
lovely, lovely.
