Some people just have a way about them, and you know instantly that they’re real, warm-hearted people – the kind you form an immediate bond with, recognize an inherent sweetness in them and are simply drawn to them for a multitude of reasons. For me, Mary and Greg are such people. They are all real, all smiles, all joy and laughter, and I feel so incredibly fortunate for having had the opportunity to get to know them as they planned the start of their lives together as husband and wife more than I can possibly say. There’s no way around it. Mary and Greg make me feel like I’m standing in the warmth of the California sun right in the middle of a bitter cold NY winter. I simply adore them.
I always feel extremely blessed to share in and document one of the most special days in my clients lives, but I felt particularly lucky to also photograph this day for these wonderful people I now call friends. I always tell my clients that my goal is to really get to know them and their relationship so that they feel like a friend is showing up to photograph their wedding day, and I’m always thrilled and take it as the biggest compliment when my clients tell me just that. But it takes a very special pair to make me feel I’m showing up to photograph a friend’s wedding. From the very beginning, Mary and Greg made the effort to get to know me, to find out what I liked, to ask about Sophie and Mr. H, my family, and my life story, and were just as interested in me as I was in them. They brought me incomprehensibly good Whoopie pies from the delectable One Girl Cookies at our first meeting because they knew how much I heart anything pumpkin from reading my blog, and invited me and Mr. H out to dinner and lunch on a few different occasions to get to know us. So, when I arrived on their wedding day, I felt like I was photographing the wedding of dear friends and it was so very fulfilling.
Mary & Greg had an absolutely extraordinary wedding at Circa 1799 Barn in Ancramdale, New York, and I could not have been more honored to photograph and share in their day. Mary did not overlook a single detail, and everything was so personal and intimate and 100% THEM. If I could photograph outdoor barn weddings with such emotion and personalization every day, I would sign up for the rest of my life to do so TODAY. The ceremony was completely from the heart and there was not a dry eye under the oak tree, including Mrs. Hallmark here, who teared up something fierce behind the lens! It was the kind of wedding that reminded me of why I love weddings so much and made me feel so blessed to do what I love
Mr. & Mrs. G, I am so very blessed to have had the two of you come into my life and am forever grateful to you for asking me to share in and document this very special day in your life. May your years together be filled with as much love, laughter, and joy as you’ve brought to my life and to every life you’ve touched!
With much love + adoration,
Maggie
