A wave of nausea came over my dear sister Jenny as she looked over her packing list provided by Ladies that Love You Travels (AKA her adoring mother and sisters)…

Don’t give the screen that look.  It was her 40th birthday, friends.  Now, come on, that’s a cause for celebration, right?  OK, so we may have been throwing her off just a hair, but hey, that’s what family is for, right?  Geez, guilt trip me, Internet.  Ok, so not exactly what family is for, but this was certainly more fun than just giving it away!

So, with her anti-nausea patch in place, and a suitcase full of mosquito netting, safety goggles, and BBQ tools, she anxiously awaited the arrival of Ladies that Love You Travels.  Warned that she would recognize them by their fragrant 10 day old fish-head aroma, she sniffed the air with caution as she approached the front door.  Balled over by the sealike stench in the air, she stood there aghast at the sight before her eyes.

They can’t actually be taking me fishing.  Right?!!?  But, before she could think anymore about it, she was blindfolded.  Moments before being rushed off to the undisclosed location, members from Ladies that Love You Travels and the impending 40 year old woman (i.e my sisters and mother) posed for the paparazzi (i.e me).

It was time.  We were off.  With fabulous tunes playing from the different decades of her vast number of years on earth, Jenny laughed and cried en route to the mystery destination.

When we pulled up to the ferry, we took her blindfold off and told her that she was being whisked off to gorgeous Catalina Island.  She was happy.

Thankfully, we had an uneventful ferry ride over, and, when I say uneventful I mean no one got violently ill at sea, which, with my mother and sisters, is practically a miracle.  Love you, ladies! :)  Here’s the view from our incredible villa balcony.  Ohhh, how I adore California.

B-E-A-UTIFUL!

Having never been to Catalina, I was in love.  It’s such a quaint, beautiful,  stuck in the 50′s town and I adored every minute of being in this great place with my favorite ladies.  Plus, I found this gentleman in town, who definitely caught my eye…bird, pipe, et al.

Since I’d left snow and 30 degree weather typical of March in New York, I basked up as much California sun as my camera would take…

We walked, talked, laughed, drank, and ate cupcakes and it was fabulous because our Jenny was 40 in Catalina.
