WALDORF ASTORIA HOTEL ENGAGEMENT | KELLY & JAY

Shortly after they met, they just knew.  You know, the way you know about a good melon.  Ok, I had to folks, MAJOR When Harry Met Sally obsessed fan here.   But, I digress…  For Kelly & Jay, knowing they wanted to spend their lives together really was that pure and simple.   And, to me, that perfectly sums up their relationship.  Pure and simple.

Kelly & Jay are completely real and down to earth.  Their love comes from this beautiful and genuine place and it is an absolute pleasure to be around them.  They are full of smiles and their joy is utterly contagious.  Even through email, their light hearted spirit and warmth exuded onto the screen of my iMac and I could tell that I would absolutely adore them.

We had such a lovely afternoon walking through Central Park in the light dusting of snow and then headed over to the Waldorf Astoria, where they were staying.  If you haven’t been, the Waldorf Astoria is amazing, and we had so much fun discovering all the wonderfully old nooks and crannies throughout the  incredibly vast hotel.

Kelly & Jay will be getting married next December on a day that will be equally as amazing as they are.  It’s just that pure and simple.

Cathy Overbeck - Kelly, Congratulations!!!! You were only 2 years old when I had the pleasure of meeting you, and learning that your favorite word was "doing" in the form of a question. You were an adorable child and now a beautiful woman. I am so happy for you, and the pictures are amazing. I wish you and Jay the very best. Much Love, Aunt Cathy

Kelly Overbeck - Maggie, I LOVE THEM! They are so great! Thank you so much for capturing our engagement in The City! I will cherish these memories forever!

ENGAGED WITH MILK & COOKIES IN NEW YORK CITY | MONIQUE & SURAG

Though they are San Francisco natives, Monique & Surag are avid New York City lovers.  And, really, who can blame them?  So, when they came for a trip this holiday season, they thought what better place than New York City to have their engagement photos taken?  And, obviously, I couldn’t have agreed more.  There is always something special about engagement photos, but I find engagement photographs taken with the backdrop of the city to be particularly special.  I think it has something to do with seeing time stand still in a couple lost in a moment with one another and yet feeling this constant motion in the background, all frozen forever.  I can’t fully describe it, but I love it.

We met on a sopping wet day at Grand Central and then headed down to Milk & Cookies for some (take a guess) milk and cookies.  It was so much fun and I had a blast getting to know this sweet California couple while tromping around in the rain.

Monique & Surag will be getting married next fall on a beautiful vineyard in Northern California and I know it will be a day as amazing as they are.

NEW YORK CITY ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY – JULIE & ADAM

As I walked down a crowded street I’ve walked down a dozen times, a couple standing on the corner immediately caught my attention.  Laughing and lost in love, I found myself smiling at them.  I liked them instantly without knowing anything about them.  In a city that’s constantly in motion, this pair stood still and held each other’s gaze as if nothing could have been more important.  And, that, to me, is Julie and Adam.  They look at each other, quite simply, like nothing else is more important.  Their love is visible and treasured and when I realized that they were the couple I was in awe of standing on the street corner coming in to meet me for the first time, I was overjoyed and knew I was going to love working with them. And I do.  I absolutely heart Julie and Adam.

Julie and Adam wear a smile everywhere they go, and are filled with an incredible warmth and joy.  They have such a sweet and genuine love and adoration for one another and it makes everyone around them smile. There is no pretense whatsoever about their relationship.  It just is. They just are.  And, I feel so lucky to have such amazing people as clients.  And, P.S, they’re absolute stunners as well.  Bea-u-tiful.

When Julie & Adam told me they wanted to do a part city/part country engagement session, I was thrilled!  Though, I must admit, Internet, I’ve never really been to the country…or a barn, or farm, or anything remotely like it, I’m afraid.  So when I saw it, I was blown away.  As we walked along, I gasped, “Oh my gosh, a COW!”  “Look! A HORSE!”  I know, you’re probably all rolling your eyes at me now, but, Julie and Adam just laughed and made me feel right at home.  They are the sweetest pair and I had the best time getting to know them amongst the different backdrops of New York City and the countryside of Newton, New Jersey.  It was a perfect day with perfect clients and I am so honored and excited to capture their wedding day in August.  I know their day is going to be filled with more love and laughter than most experience in a lifetime and I can’t wait to capture it all.

Thanks so much, Julie and Adam!  I’m so looking forward to your special day!

SHARON & CHRIS

English.  It may not be the language of love, per say, but it did bring a New York City girl and a Maryland boy together when they met while teaching our lovely native tongue in China.  And, in no time at all, they fell hard.  Hard enough to maintain a long distance relationship from Maryland to New York for five, yes, five years.  This year, though, as Sharon & Chris prepare to start their lives of matrimonial bliss, they are finally together in the same place.

Chris was supposed to be out of town.  And, I guess, technically he was “out of town” in that he was out of the “town” of Maryland and was instead in New York City, planning to propose to beautiful Sharon.  Waiting for her friend to show up, Sharon was surprised when she saw Chris show up across the street instead.  She said at that moment she knew it was coming, but she couldn’t have been more thrilled when he got down on one knee in the middle of Madison Square Park and asked her to be his wife.

Sharon and Chris, now residing in Maryland came into the city for their engagement session and we had a blast!  We had planned to start off at the yummy yummy Shake Shack, but the weather had other thoughts in mind.  We ended up having  such fun playing in the rain and visited Grand Central Station, and the Soda Shop

I simply adore how joyful Sharon and Chris are together.  It’s such a genuine happiness and it is such a pleasure to witness.  Chris and Sharon are the perfect fit and I know their wedding day next month will be equally as perfect.

Dottie - What a great setting for a shoot. You did an awesome job on capturing the love and fun of Chris & Sharon. Many of these photos could be used in magazines as advertisements. Beautiful work AGAIN!

maggie - Thanks so much Amy, we had so much fun! :)

Jeff - sharon, outfit is bedazzling :p it pops. maggie, lovely tones, what camera/lens do you use?

Amy Tang - Maggie, these pictures are amazing. Sharon is such a beautiful, colorful, classic, fun, and sophisticated woman, and you brought that out in your photographs. I am so happy to see Chris and Sharon in places that they also love. Wonderful, wonderful job on those photographs. You have such an artistic eye!

Sharon - Maggie, these are great! We had so much fun running around in the rain with you... even if we didn't get to shoot at our beloved Shake Shack ;) You were truly a joy to work with. Thanks again!
