PHILADELPHIA ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS | JULIE + TEDDY

She arrived right on time at the love statue at 36th and Locust, ready meet her friend.  When her friend was no where to be found, Julie perched herself beside the famous statue and waited.  Just then a student on campus approached Julie bearing a note for her.  And, you can imagine her surprise when she looked at the envelope and noticed the writing was in her very own San Franciscan boyfriend’s hand.  As she anxiously read the words that filled the page, she glanced up to see none other than her Northern CA boyfriend down on one knee asking for her hand in marriage.

After years of long distance, Julie and Teddy are happily enjoying being in the same together and going through Medical and Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.   The future husband and wife will be getting hitched this month, and I couldn’t be happier for this sweet pair.

Last month, I went to Philadelphia for their engagement session and had such fun playing in the rain with Julie and Teddy!  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE sunshine, but there is always something so special about photographs in the rain.  Fortunately, we had a light misting the whole time and Julie and Teddy were up for anything, so we had a blast!

I can’t wait for your big day, Julie + Teddy! :)

Hugs,

Maggie

BROOKLYN ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | MARY + GREG

When Mary and Greg decided to officially meet in person after initially being introduced on Match, Greg picked an adorable Thai restaurant in Cobble Hill called Joya for their first date.  Greg ordered his usual dish “on fire” and Mary had the Pad See Yue, and they got to know one another over noodles and chopsticks, a tradition they maintain every month to the day that they met.  Is that not the cutest?

Every time I think of Mary and Greg, I can’t help but smile and feel, well, joyful.  And when I stop to think about how it all started in a place called joya, I think about how fitting it is for a couple who experience nothing but joy together.  It’s a joy that is simply contagious and anyone who is fortunate enough to be around them can’t help but join in in their smiles.

The moment I met Mary and Greg, I just adored them.  They are real, down to earth, hilarious, so much fun to be around, and are just incredibly thoughtful.  Having known my obsession with everything pumpkin from reading my blog, the future Mr. and Mrs. went out of their way in the midst of snow and sleet to bring me Whoopie Pies from the ever delectable One Girl Cookies. Umm, can you say amazing?  And I’m not talking about the Whoppie Pies, my friends, although they were completely scrumptious in every imaginable way.  I feel so lucky to have such wonderful clients and friends and I am so very excited to document their wedding day at the unbelievably beautiful Circa 1799 Barn next month.

Mary and Greg, my wonderful fellow Brooklynites, wanted to capture Brooklyn in their engagement photos by heading to Joya where it all started, and Dumbo, and I was thrilled.  What can I say?  I simply love Brooklyn and would be happy to photograph engagements and weddings there all the time.  I heart it.

Mary and Greg, may you always be as joyful in each other’s presence as you are today!  You guys are simply a JOY to be around and I cannot wait for next month!

Hugs,

Maggie

Your photography captures so much emotion. Pictured in these photos is so much joy and laughter that I can’t wait to see Mary and Greg’s wedding photos. Can Mary smile any bigger? They are definitely smitten!

So much laughter… love it!

Marcus

Love the shot against the storefront. I think capturing them laughing like this really shows the essence of their relationship.

Greg

I’m at a loss for words! You have captured the love between us and the spirit of Brooklyn and those places most special to us. Your eye for the moment is truly spectacular and these pictures are truly outstanding! Truly!
I am beyond thrilled at how these came out, and like Mary and Amy before me, am so happy you will be there to celebrate our wedding, not only as our photographer, but as our friend! :-)

Amy

These are fabulous!! You really captured the beauty, fun and playfulness (and inner-Vogue) of Mary and Greg! I can’t wait to see what will come out of the wedding!

Mary

Talented and amazing doesn’t begin to describe you! We had such a blast taking these photos and that really comes across. Thank you for a wonderful time and for the beautiful images we will cherish forever! You are truly an artist and I am beyond thrilled that you’ll be capturing our big day. Much love, Mary

CENTRAL PARK ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS | JESSICA + CALVIN

Central Park engagement photos on a sun filled summer day with ice cold brightly colored popsicles?  Ummm…yes, please!  SUCH fun!  Jessica and Calvin met and got engaged in Central Park so it seemed only fitting to do their engagement session in this special place.

Not too long ago, this sweet pair met among mutual friends on a warm summer night at the New York Philharmonic concert in Central Park.  Calvin was immediately sold on Jessica, but Jessica wasn’t so sure. When Calvin contacted her shortly thereafter to meet up for coffee, Jessica still wasn’t convinced, but decided she’d go out with him anyway and get to know him.  What resulted, my friends, was that Ms. Jessica became sold on Calvin.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Jessica and Calvin might be two of the happiest people in this world.  I don’t think there was a point in their engagement session that they weren’t smiling, and, when I asked them to put on their best VogueGQ faces for me, they inevitably would follow up with laugher, making our day in the park an absolute blast!  I am so thrilled to be working with such lovely people and simply adore how in love and happy they are together.  So cute!  I couldn’t imagine a better match for either of them and I’m so looking forward to capturing and sharing in their day with them in September!

NYC VINTAGE GARDEN ENGAGEMENT SESSION | MARY + JIMMY

Mary and Jimmy are simply delightful people.  And that, combined with a lovely summer evening in a quiet New York City garden for their engagement session?  Perfection.  When the incredibly sweet and beautiful Mary, author of Mrs. O (the fabulously chic blog devoted to the fashion of our First Lady) told me that she is an avid gardener and wondered of what I thought about doing their engagement photos in a garden, I was in love!  L.O.V.E.  We had to combat a few summer storms, but we finally got a beautiful day full of sunshine and even a cool breeze which made our summer evening in this adorable little New York City garden an absolute delight!

Mary wore this incredible Peter Soronen dress to their session and looked stunning.  Gorg.e.ous.  And, my friends, just wait til you see her wedding dress made by Mr. Soronen.  Ri.dic.u.lous.  You’ll be jealous, trust me.

Mary and Jimmy are the sweetest pair ever and I think what I adore most about them is the way they light up around one another.  You can literally see the sparkle in their eyes for one another and it just makes me happy.  They are beyond smitten and it is such a joy to be around. They’re now officially hitched and back from their honeymoon in Bora Bora, so I thought I’d welcome them back with their engagement photos.  Stay tuned in the next weeks for their wedding photos!  What a beautiful day it was!

Hope your time in Bora Bora was a blast Mary and Jimmy!  I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Love and hugs to you both!

Maggie, we are literally on the plane back from Bora Bora (hooray for gogo inflight internet!) and just saw these photos. What a treat just when we thought the wedding/honeymoon buzz was coming to an end. Jimmy and I LOVE the photos. You are such a talent and put both of us at ease right from the start. We can’t thank you enough!
