Kendra and Dave have to be one of my favorite couples of all time.  There is no doubt about it: they are made for each other.  They are one of those couples that make me love love even more, and that make others around them smile because of their genuine and visible love for one another.  They treat each other like their love is precious – like they are the luckiest people in the world to be with the other and I adore them and their relationship so much.  This March, Kendra and Dave are expecting their first child, a baby girl, and they couldn’t be any more aglow about it, and when I look at these photographs, I can’t help but feel equally as joyful.  Their faces radiate with such happiness and I think it’s simply contagious.  I hope you catch it.

But, for those of you that can handle some preciousness….On November 21, 2009, sweet little Lucy Bea was welcomed into the world by a proud Mommy and Daddy in none other than the great New York, New York.  Her doting parents, Jennie & Frank could not have been more overjoyed to hold their first child in their arms and see this amazing girl that had just changed their lives forever.  

When I arrived at their home for their portrait session, it looked as if they’d been doing this their whole lives, they were completely at peace and were simply aglow.  It was as if they were meant to be doing this all along.  It was such an honor to watch them radiate with such joy and to capture these delightfully sweet and tender moments in their lives.

Upon my arrival home, Mr. Hallmark casually asked how my shoot went with his eyes cast down at the Week in Review section of the Sunday paper.  It wasn’t until he looked up and saw the expression on my face describing how amazing Lucy was that the deer in headlights look came over his face – one that resembled the face he’d made this past summer when I got sick on the side of the road and my father asked, “You’re not pregnant, are you?”  Not to worry Mr. H, it’s just you me, & Sophie for a while, but what can I say?  Babies make me swoon and Lucy Bea is certainly no exception.  Many congratulations Cattano’s, you have such a beautiful family!

Liz, Paul, and Christopher are anxiously awaiting a very special delivery from a large, long-legged bird.  And, in just a few short weeks, the precious little bundle will enter his way into the world, changing their lives forever.

I’ve known Paul for a few years now, so when he asked me to take some portraits of his family, I was super excited.  Paul is one of the most proud fathers I’ve ever met.  He simply lights up when talking about his son, Christopher, and I was thrilled to witness his joy firsthand, and have the opportunity to capture his family in their element.

His wife, Liz, is simply glowing and though I heard she was a little nervous about taking some baby bump pictures, I never would have known it!  She was a complete natural in front of the camera and is so down to earth and at peace that I immediately felt at ease in her presence.  Is she a beauty or what?!

The adorable Christopher, who recently turned 2, is striking.  Talk about a cutie!  Wow.  His deep blue eyes are absolutely amazing and he is a total crack up.  He carries his bunny everywhere with him and adores his mommy and daddy to pieces.  He’s going to be such a great big brother.  Baby Gallegra is going to be one lucky kid!

Wait no longer, folks!  She’s here!  As promised, the precious Madelyn Paige, the newest member of the Alix family and our newest baby niece is gracing the pages of maggieharkov.com with her adorable face.

A few months ago, my friend Amyrose and her son Evan came over to play and have some photographs taken together.  Sounds of laughter and the pitter patter of his fast feet filled our New York City apartment and it immediately made me miss my nieces and nephews back in California.  Sophie, our petrified little puppy was a little alarmed (I know, shocking news for those of you that have met her) at having a small person running about in her space, but she soon learned that having a little person around had its advantages.  She loved chasing Evan and jumping up on him as he stuffed apples with peanut butter into his mouth, hoping she might have more luck with him than she would with her Mom.  (She was not mistaken.)  But, really, I can’t blame her, I mean, after all, it is peanut butter and I’d do just about anything for peanut butter.  I do love me some Skippy and Jif. :)

After rolling out orange, blue, white, and green play-doh, we headed to the park for a little photo action.  It was wonderful to watch them play together and just capture them in their ordinary, everyday moments.  Moments that were and are just Evan and his Mom.
