MANHATTAN PENTHOUSE WEDDING | MELISSA & KEVIN

They’re just those kind of the people.  You know, the kind of people you meet and instantly like.  The kind of people that make you feel like you’ve just made an new friend. The kind of people that put others before themselves, even on their wedding day.  They are the kind of people that when standing out in 20 degree weather with significantly less layers on than I asked if I was freezing my buns off.  The kind of people that went out of their way at their reception to ask if I’d gotten something to drink and something to eat.  They are the kind of people that welcomed me into their lives and made me feel like family and I couldn’t have been more honored to document the wedding day of such extraordinary people. Individually Melissa and Kevin are wonderful, but together, they’re simply incredible.

They joined their lives before their equally incredible family and friends at the Manhattan Penthouse and it was absolutely beautiful.

Wishing you a lifetime together filled with all the love, joy and warmth you bring to every life you touch!

With much love & appreciation,

Maggie

BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY: SHARON & CHRIS

Rain and dark clouds may have filled the October skies with a grey overcast, but nothing but the look of utter bliss cast off the faces of Sharon and Chris on their wedding day.   After 5 years together, Mr. and Mrs. Hidey joined their lives as one before their family and friends at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and they absolutely glowed.  Looking at them gaze smittenly upon one another, you would have thought they were basking in the sun, literally glowing from its warm golden rays.  But, alas, it wasn’t a bright sunny day, they were and are just that completely in love & unabashedly happy and it was such an honor to document.

Despite the logistical challenges that difficult weather, getting wet, and traffic provide, Sharon & Chris never stopped smiling.   A lot of people would have let such challenges affect their perception or enjoyment of their day, but Mr. and Mrs. Hidey took everything in stride and soaked up (no pun intended) every amazing moment of the day they started their lives together.

And what a beautiful day it was.  Sharon left no detail uncovered.  Everything from her stunningly beautiful Vera Wang gown, to her gold Manolo Blahnik shoes, to the gorgeous floral arrangements by Belle Fleur, to the Groom’s cake, the choreographed dance by bridal party & Mr. & Mrs. Hidey, to the shawls and flip flops for guests, to a prank during the garter toss, to hair and outfit changes, Sharon & Chris did not overlook a single detail and it showed.

When I think back on Sharon & Chris’s wedding day, I will never forget the love that surrounded it.  Rain was not going to reign on their parade or get in the way of celebrating the start of their lives and as a result, it could not have been a more extraordinary day.

Mr. and Mrs. Hidey, may your love for one another always shine as brightly as it did on your wedding day.  It was an absolute privilege to capture your first day as husband and wife.

With love & appreciation,

Maggie

And a special thank you to Jesse who shot along my side and held an umbrella over my head as best he could!   You were such a help, thanks Jesse! :)

Jeff - loverley pics! -- didn't realize there was so much violet! and it was as close to a monsoon wedding as one could get minus the marigolds :p

Sharon - Maggie, your talent speaks for itself. You are the calmest and loveliest person to work with. I could not ask for more. The rain was just an added bonus since according to Chris' grandma, it was God showering his blessings on us. Simply magical. Thank you again!!!

SIWANOY COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING | JODY & MARK

It happened on a trip to Nicaragua.  They met and fell in love and when you look at them look at each other you can’t help but see why.  Jody and Mark are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet.  They are the kind of people that you can’t help but love.  I had spoken with Jody over the phone and through emails, but we never actually met until their wedding day.  When she appeared at the door, she was simply glowing and looked absolutely stunning.   She gave me a big hug and introduced me to her family and I instantly fell in love with them all.

Jody makes you feel like you’ve just made an instant friend.  She’s warm, genuine, down to earth, and constantly smiling.  When I met Mark, it was no surprise to find that her partner in life was equally as wonderful and kind, greeting me with a big smile, anxious to see his lovely bride.  I could see it right away.  He and Jody were the perfect match.

Jody and Mark had a really beautiful private ceremony with only their children and minister present and it was such a gift to document.  Following the ceremony was a fabulous reception at the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York where 200 of their closest friends and family were there smiling and ready to greet them.  It was such an awesome wedding and I was so honored to capture it.

Here are a few of my favorites from their special day…

maggie - Thank you! :) I feel so lucky to do what I love!

Dottie - Maggie Harkov, What a fun job you have capturing love & fun, life & emotion. How can you be so creative. Always coming up with something new as can be easily seen in Erica & Matt and Jody & Mark's shoots. Maag niff e co!

Beth Alix - You captured some amazing moments Maggie! They are a beautiful couple and you can feel their love through your photos.

THE GARRISON | JAMIE & ROB

His eyes lit up.  He was Calvin, he recalled.  As in Calvin and Hobbes.  She was a hippy.  Jamie begged to differ.  A hippy that didn’t feel like dressing up for Halloween and went as herself, she corrected with a smile.  But whatever their “disguise”, they couldn’t mask the connection that drew them together that night they met several years ago.

Jamie & Rob had a beautiful outdoor wedding at the Garrison on an insanely perfect day in July.  And in New York, that seems to be a rarity in the summer – especially THIS summer!  I simply ADORE outdoor weddings and felt so honored to be a part of their day.

Jamie and Rob were infinitely comfortable with each other and let themselves feel all the emotion of the day.  They were both so touched and moved by the commitment they were making and it was a really beautiful thing to witness.  They are one of the sweetest couples ever and it was a delight to photograph them.

Thanks to Jose Reyes, who invited me to shoot with him!

And now, for a few of my favorites…

maggie harkov - Thank you! It would be an honor! :)

alyssa - exquisite work as usual Maggie.....if i get married someday, you're my girl!!!!

Marianne Kedo - From the invitation to the end of the day with the spectacular sunset, the photos are stunning. The bride is so beautiful and elegant, and the groom so handsome and open. I love how you captured everything, including the sweetness of the children. And what a beautiful spot they chose to begin their journey together. WOW . . . beautifully done, Maggie!
