ERICA & MATT – PART I OF II

It was just another day at the office.  No, stop picturing Steve Carell.  He wasn’t a part of this.  It was an actual day at the office.  And a day at this particular office meant that Matt and Erica were just about to meet the person they were going to spend the rest of their lives with.

Having just moved to the big apple from Florida, Erica began temp work for the same company that Matt did IT for.  Lucky for both of them, Erica had needed her email account set up and Matt, the smitten kitten that he was, immediately obliged, even though it wasn’t part of his job description just to get the chance to talk to the lovely Erica. :)  Matt, a native New Yorker, took this beautiful Floridian gal under his wing in the big city and it was pretty much history from there.

Erica and Matt are crazy in love.  Seriously, look at these faces.  They are almost childlike with each other.  There is something in the way they laugh together, something about the way their eyes light up in each other’s presence.  You look at them look at each other and it’s ridiculously obvious how in love they are.  How lucky am I to get to be around people this love?  I really have the best job in the world and I’ve had SUCH a blast getting to know them!  We had such fun doing their engagement session in the midst of this thunderstorm season we’ve had this summer.  We started off our adventure at Penn Station where Matt had proposed, went by the Met stadium(no haters, Yankees fans), where they had had one of their first dates, and I saw my first baseball game ever, cuz, hey, I’m REALLY athletic, folks, and then we finished up in Long Island City, where they currently reside.  We had so much fun!

This is only a sneak peak of  more to come, but here is a little sampling of the smitten kittens, Erica & Matt!  Stay tuned…

Thanks for sharing your treasures.

DRUMROLL PLEASE…

Well, my caffeine addicted friends, I know it’s just been KILLING you to wait for the announcement of the big winner so I’ll keep you waiting no longer.

The winner of $50 worth of indulgence at the ever fabulous Starbucks is…

Well, wait, I think I’m gonna have to tell you the answer first.  The lovely southern belle, Aimee, had a skim latte and her husband-to-be, Jonathan had…WATER.  What?!?  Yep, no joke.  I’m afraid Jonathan doesn’t share our addiction to warm, or iced get-you-going-in-the-morning fabulous goodness.  It’s okay, Jonathan, we’ll let you slide, just this once!

In light of this, I’ll be honoring the two people who were closest and splitting the gift card between - Ms. Rebecca of Dragonfly Photography who guessed a nonfat latte and Ms. Olga Perez Flora who guessed an iced green tea – which is cold and based in water so I’m gonna give it to her.  :)

Ladies, please send your mailing addresses to: maggie@maggieharkov.com to recieve your cards!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to guess!  I enjoyed reading all of your great guesses!

And, lastly, I leave you with one more picture of the lovely couple!

Happy Tuesday, friends! :)

Great work, once again, Mag:) XO

i can’t believe he had a water!!! lol. unprecedented ;)

AIMEE & JONATHAN

Their eyes met as soon as she walked in the door.  She smiled, ordered a drink and found her way to an empty table just beside him.  There she sat, perched in her chair, pouring over a book on fashion, as she sipped the warm beverage from her paper cup.  He, stood tall in his chair (not a challenge for a man who is 6’7”) pretending to look engrossed in his GMAT prep book when, instead, he pondered an opening line.  “Your book looks more interesting than mine” were the words that changed it all.

This was no ordinary day at Starbucks.

Aimee, a beautiful Southern belle from Alabama, and one of the founding designers of the vintage and fabulous clothing line Sara Claire & Esther, and Jonathan, a brilliant young man and Partner Development Manager at the Associated Press from Johnstown, New York are getting married in October and I had the honor of shooting their engagement session.

I’ve been friends with Aimee since she met Jonathan and I have to say, I never seen someone so in love.  Well, that was until I saw Jonathan look right back at her.  They are SUCH a sweet pair and it’s impossible not to laugh and smile right along with them.  You’ll see!  It’s contagious!  They’re head over heels, fall on your face, ridiculously in love.  Hate them?  You can’t!  They’re too nice and too adorable!  I feel so lucky to have captured this special time in their lives and even more lucky to call them my friends.

In honor of Aimee & Jonathan, I have a little challenge for all you coffee addicts out there who are just about ready for their next fix.  In the comment section, leave your usual fabulous comments and then take a stab at their beverages of choice on the day they met.  The lucky winner to guess first receives a $50 gift card to the place that brought these two love birds together.  All guesses must be in by Monday, July 27th at 9:00 AM EST.  Happy Coffee time, kids!

Aunt Linda

Can’t find the words to express what my heart is feeling for the two of you as I look thru these amazing photos of you both sharing your love with the rest of your family and friends to see and feel that you are meant to be with each other. I am just speechless…..but my tears are not.

Aunt Linda and Uncle LaVerne

Here is my guess…Aimee had a cappuccino and Jonathan had a latte.

maggie harkov

Thanks everyone! This is great! Keep the guesses on’ coming! :)

Love these pictures. The first one – the expression on her face is awesome! And I love the Einstein ones! Great work.

I’ll take a stab – an Americano and a nonfat latte?

Great pics. I’m going to guess that they both had iced mochas.

Honestly I think this is the 98th time I have looked through these pictures. They are simply gorgeous, and it was truly a pleasure having you shoot us Maggie. I know these pictures will be hanging in our home until we’re both old and gray!

Beautiful work, Maggie! They look like a fun couple. I’m going to guess that she had a nonfat caramel macchiato, and he had an espresso con panna :)

Sara Greeson

Hmmm…He had a cafe americano and she had a zen tea.
AWESOME pics!

His was a drip coffee, hers was a soy latte, no foam.

Fun contest, Mags! And as usual, gorgeous pics – some REALLY amazing poses.

Hey, were there any good pics of Catie? Probably not, she was in such a bad mood that day!

Kelliann Festa

These two look like models! GORGEOUS! I am forever captivated by your art, Maggie!

SIMPLICITY

Sometimes the simplest things are the best things in life…

Mr. Hallmark and I had a lovely weekend.  It was simple and calm and it was enjoyed together.  And, sometimes, just the simplicity of slowing down and witnessing the ordinary becomes something truly extraordinary.

Like seeing Oreo (Sophie’s new Aunt) be totally content chewing on her favorite bone.

oreo

Or observing the way dogs love…

soph&oreo2

Or having the ability to see these adorable faces…

soph&oreo

Or having wonderful people and creatures on this earth to make us laugh…(Mr. Hallmark took this of me & our Sophie while on a picnic at the park on a beautiful summer day)

sophmesmile

Or looking at the sun kiss the face of my beautiful little girl.  Ok, I know, I’ve officially turned into THAT dog owner.

sophie

sophiesmile

Or the wonderful feeling of snuggling up to someone you love…

soph&me

Or watching a sunset of unimaginable color from our apartment window.

These are some of the simplest, yet greatest of things.

Happy Monday, folks!  May it be a lovely week for all of you!

maggie harkov

Thanks so much for the love, friends!

Maria

Wow those pictures were amazing!!! I loved how you not only capture the scene but also the feelings that are in it. It truly shows how talented you are. Those clouds were so interesting – they kind of looked a bit creepy! Is that a New York thing? Anyway, amazing job! I am so proud of you and your work! Oh, and by the way, you’re definitely going to be my photographer for my wedding! Love you always and miss you :-D

Aww!! The puppies are so cute!!

Dottie

Awww, love the photo of Oreo & Sophie on the floor looking at you, the one of you and Sophie enjoying each other’s closeness with your & her eyes closed (how’d that get captured?) and that cloud formation at sunset….you certainly have an eye for catching the moment!

Marianne Kedo

You made my tummy feel like mush again:) You are truly gifted and I love you!

maggie harkov

:) Thanks Dave! At least the stormy NY weather yielded some amazing sunsets!

Maggie.

This picture is awesome. I’ve never seen clouds quite like that.
